Merger Plans for Local Age Concerns

The trustees of Age Concern Dorchester and Age Concern Weymouth have recently agreed to merge the two charities. The merger will benefit both of the charities, and older people across the Weymouth and Dorchester area, by allowing the new larger charity to reduce administrative costs and focus on providing more services.

Di Lawrence, the Chief Officer of Age Concern Dorchester, said 'It's a great opportunity for both Age Concerns to join up and deliver even more services for older people. The new charity will benefit both areas significantly'

Trustees of both charities are enthusiastic about the merger.
John Weir, the chairman of Age Concern Dorchester's board of trustees, said 'We're really looking forward to working with Age Concern Weymouth - like us, they have some fantastic volunteers and some great services. The new charity will have great potential'
The chairman of Age Concern Weymouth's trustee board, David Harris, added 'The combined resources of Dorchester and Weymouth and Portland should enable us to provide an even better service for older people locally and will help us relate to the changes taking place in the county.
